Forest farmers from Kuantan Singingi arrived in Pekanbaru with hundreds of kilograms of tampui and barangan. The harvest offered a glimpse of the market for lesser-known forest fruits.
Community members in Lubuk Bigau helped identify and test 15 locally available plant materials as possible sources of essential oils. Twelve produced oils under the project’s trial conditions, creating a starting point for further research while showing why early results should not be confused with market-ready products.
