Melki Rumania
Executive Director
Melki Rumania leads Hutanriau’s work at the intersection of community rights, spatial evidence, forest governance and locally led conservation. His strengths include participatory mapping, GIS and land-use planning, social forestry, community facilitation, programme design and multi-stakeholder coordination. He has managed complex field programmes involving forest rehabilitation, sustainable livelihoods and institutional strengthening across rural Riau. At Hutanriau, he connects field realities with organisational strategy and partnerships, helping communities, government and other actors turn local knowledge and spatial evidence into practical decisions for more sustainable landscapes.

Desriandi
Programme Director
Desriandi leads programme development and implementation at Yayasan Hutanriau, bringing extensive experience in community facilitation, participatory planning, environmental governance and conflict resolution. His work has ranged from community-based ecosystem restoration and REDD initiatives to participatory mapping, village-level spatial planning, policy advocacy and the development of livelihoods based on non-timber forest products and environmental services. He has worked across community, civil society and multi-stakeholder processes, helping translate complex social, legal and environmental issues into practical approaches. At Hutanriau, he strengthens programmes by keeping community perspectives, field realities and participatory decision-making at the centre of implementation.

Sigit Priya Utama
Monitoring, Data & Field Programmes
Sigit Priya Utama works across monitoring, data and field programmes at Yayasan Hutanriau, connecting programme implementation with reliable field evidence and documentation. His experience includes community facilitation, FPIC processes, field monitoring, participatory mapping and GIS, forest and landscape restoration, and social documentation. He works closely with communities and local stakeholders to collect, organise and communicate field information that supports programme tracking, reporting and adaptive management. His practical experience in rural and remote settings helps Hutanriau ensure that programme decisions remain grounded in field realities and community perspectives.

Arika Harmon
Social Inclusion & Community Empowerment
Arika Harmon works on social inclusion and community empowerment at Yayasan Hutanriau, bringing a locally rooted background in youth organising, Indigenous and community engagement, and sustainable natural resource management. His experience grew from community initiatives in Kenegerian Pangkalan Kapas, where he helped organise young people across villages, supported community learning and cultural initiatives, and engaged with issues affecting customary territories, rural livelihoods and access to public services. He has also participated in Indigenous peoples’ networks and community-based natural resource initiatives. At Hutanriau, Arika helps strengthen locally led participation and ensures that community perspectives, particularly those of young people and rural communities, are meaningfully reflected in programme processes.

Juwanda Putra
Spatial Planning & Geospatial Analysis
Juwanda Putra works on spatial planning and geospatial analysis at Yayasan Hutanriau, helping connect community-level land-use needs with formal spatial planning policies and frameworks. His experience includes regional and urban spatial planning, RTRW reviews, land suitability studies, GIS analysis, spatial databases and UAV/drone mapping for infrastructure and territorial planning. He has led and supported planning assignments with government agencies across Riau and other parts of Sumatra. At Hutanriau, Juwanda contributes spatial analysis, mapping and planning expertise that helps translate policy frameworks into practical land-use options and programme directions at village and landscape levels.

Widya Astuti
Social Forestry, FPIC & Conflict Mediation Advisor | Board of Trustees
Widya Astuti serves on Yayasan Hutanriau’s Board of Trustees, bringing long-standing leadership experience in social forestry, community engagement, FPIC and conflict mediation. She previously led Hutanriau as Executive Director and has managed multidisciplinary programmes linking forest rehabilitation, participatory planning, community livelihoods and stakeholder coordination. Her work includes facilitating conflict-sensitive processes, coordinating with government forest agencies and private-sector partners, strengthening safeguards and programme quality, and supporting monitoring and learning. At Hutanriau, she provides strategic guidance that connects community realities, institutional partnerships and practical programme delivery in forest governance and conservation.

Mexsasai Indra
Constitutional Law & Governance Advisor | Board of Trustees
Mexsasai Indra serves on Hutanriau’s Board of Trustees and advises the organisation on constitutional law, governance and public policy. His work spans state institutions, regional and village governance, customary and land rights, environmental governance, regulatory development and complex administrative and natural resource issues. He has contributed legal and policy expertise to government institutions, legislatures, courts, universities and civil society processes across Riau and Indonesia. At Hutanriau, he helps strengthen the legal and policy foundations of community rights, participatory land governance, forest conservation and locally led development.

Natural Resource Law & Tenure Advisor | Board of Trustees
Andiko serves on Yayasan Hutanriau’s Board of Trustees, bringing extensive experience in natural resource law, land and forest tenure, Indigenous Peoples’ rights and conflict resolution. His work has spanned legal and policy reform, community rights, forestry governance, sustainable business and human rights, and the resolution of complex natural resource disputes. He has contributed to national discussions on customary forests, tenure reform and rights-based forest governance, while working with communities, government, civil society and the private sector. At Hutanriau, he provides strategic guidance on tenure, rights and legal safeguards, helping strengthen programmes that connect community interests with fair and sustainable natural resource governance.

Rakhmat Hidayat
Member, Supervisory Board | Social Forestry & Community Forest Governance
Rakhmat Hidayat serves on Yayasan Hutanriau’s Supervisory Board, bringing decades of experience in social forestry, community-based forest management, Indigenous Peoples’ rights and conflict resolution. Since the 1990s, he has supported customary forests and a range of social forestry initiatives across Sumatra, working with communities, government, civil society and development partners. His experience also spans REDD+, community development and multi-stakeholder forest governance. At Hutanriau, Rakhmat contributes a strong community forestry and rights-based perspective to organisational oversight, helping ensure that programmes remain grounded in community interests, equitable forest governance and practical pathways for locally led forest management.

Nurul Qomar
Member, Supervisory Board | Forest Conservation & Natural Resource Governance
Nurul Qomar serves on Yayasan Hutanriau’s Supervisory Board, bringing extensive expertise in forest conservation, natural resource governance and community-based forest management. His work spans forest and peatland ecosystems, mangrove conservation, local institutions, community participation, tenure issues and the sustainable use of forest resources. He has contributed research and analysis on forest governance, land-use change, peatland degradation and community relationships with forest landscapes across Riau. At Hutanriau, he brings an evidence-based forestry perspective to organisational oversight, helping ensure that conservation and community programmes remain ecologically sound, context-sensitive and grounded in credible analysis.

Fakhrur Rodzi serves on Yayasan Hutanriau’s Supervisory Board, bringing extensive experience in journalism, editorial leadership and strategic communication. His work has covered politics, governance, elections and public affairs, alongside environmental and forestry issues. He has led newsrooms and journalist networks, supported training on investigative forestry reporting, REDD+ and conflict-sensitive journalism, and coordinated media initiatives involving civil society and environmental organisations. At Hutanriau, he contributes a critical communications and public-interest perspective to organisational oversight, helping strengthen how evidence, environmental issues and community realities are understood and communicated.

Surya Hapinos
Secretary, Governing Board | Community Facilitation & Participatory Mapping
Surya Hapinos serves as Secretary of Yayasan Hutanriau’s Governing Board and brings extensive experience in community facilitation and participatory mapping. Much of his work has involved working directly with village communities and forest farmer groups, supporting participatory processes, field activities and community-based forest programmes. He has contributed to participatory land-use planning, forest rehabilitation and other field initiatives across Riau. At Hutanriau, Surya helps connect community perspectives with programme implementation, drawing on his practical experience as a facilitator and his growing focus on participatory mapping.

Nur Aisyah Aminy
Treasurer, Governing Board
Nur Aisyah Aminy serves as Treasurer of Yayasan Hutanriau’s Governing Board, contributing to financial governance, organisational accountability and institutional oversight. Her experience spans project administration, finance, field operations and documentation in community-based forestry and participatory land-use programmes. She also brings a strong background in youth leadership, organisational management and facilitation developed through years of active involvement in the Scout movement, where she held leadership, training and coordination roles. This combination of governance, operational experience and people-centred leadership supports Hutanriau’s efforts to maintain accountable systems while remaining responsive to the realities of programme implementation.
